TF Sport Storms the Podium at the 6 Hours of Imola

The latest from the Wynn’s Racing Team

The 2026 FIA WEC Season Has Arrived

The 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship has officially begun, and Wynn’s Racing partner TF Sport wasted no time making a statement. At the 6 Hours of Imola — the season opener for one of motorsport’s most prestigious global championships — the #33 TF Sport Corvette Z06 GT3.R delivered a podium finish that turned heads across the LMGT3 class.

It was the kind of performance that reminds you why endurance racing is unlike anything else in motorsport.

From the 14th to the Podium. The Story of the #33

Starting 14th on the grid is never how a team draws it up. But what unfolded over six grueling hours at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola was a masterclass in strategy, pace, and pure driver talent.

Behind the wheel of the gold-yellow #33 Corvette Z06 GT3.R was a trio of exceptional drivers: Blake McDonald, Jonny Edgar, and Nicky Catsburg. Together, they executed one of the most impressive comeback drives of the opening round.

McDonald, making his debut in the World Endurance Championship, didn’t show a single sign of nerves. He carved his way methodically through the field, reaching the top five and laying the foundation for what was to come. Edgar then stepped in and engaged in a fierce, wheel-to-wheel battle with rivals for the class lead, refusing to yield. And in the final stint, Catsburg gave everything he had in pursuit of the BMW that ultimately took the LMGT3 class victory.

The result: 2nd place. Champagne on the podium. And a very clear message to the rest of the field heading into the rest of the season.

So Close to the Win

In racing, seconds are everything, and sometimes those seconds are lost in the pit lane rather than on the circuit.

A slow final pit stop cost the #33 crew several precious moments that, on a day when the pace was undeniably there, could have translated into a class victory. It’s one of those moments every endurance team knows. The car is fast, the drivers are on it, and then the margin slips away in the garage rather than on track.

But the silver lining is clear. The speed, the racecraft, and the resolve were all there in abundance. TF Sport and its drivers left Imola knowing they had a genuine class-winning package. That’s the kind of confidence that builds championships.

A Tough Day for the #34

Not every race story has a clean ending, and the #34 TF Sport Corvette Z06 GT3.R had a weekend to forget.

The dark red sister car — driven by Salih Yoluç, Peter Dempsey, and Charlie Eastwood was also showing excellent pace around Imola. Yoluç and Dempsey were actively fighting for a podium position before the day took a painful turn. An electrical issue struck during the final stint, forcing Eastwood to lose significant time before ultimately bringing the car home in 16th place.

It was a frustrating end to what had the makings of a strong result. The #34 crew has the talent and the machinery to compete at the front — and they’ll be hungry to prove exactly that at the next round.

Championship Standing After Round 1

With one race in the books, the standings tell an encouraging story for the #33 side of the garage:

  • #33 Corvette Z06 GT3.R (McDonald / Edgar / Catsburg) — 2nd in the LMGT3 Teams’ Championship | 2nd in the Drivers’ Championship
  • #34 Corvette Z06 GT3.R (Yoluç / Dempsey / Eastwood) — 16th in both standings

There’s a long season ahead, and in endurance racing, consistency over time defines champions. The #33 crew has started with maximum points pressure on the class leader.

Next Up. The 6 Hours of Spa

All eyes now turn to Belgium.

The 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps  scheduled for the weekend of May 9  is one of the most iconic events in endurance racing. The legendary Ardennes circuit is famous for its ever-changing weather, high-speed corners, and the ability to produce race-defining moments at every lap.

For TF Sport, Spa represents an opportunity to go one better than Imola — and close the gap to the top of the championship standings. For the #34 squad, it’s a chance to put a difficult opener behind them and show the pace that was evident before the technical issues intervened.

Wynn’s Racing will be there every lap of the way.
